Menopause is a natural process that occurs in all women. It is the transition period in a woman's life when her ovaries stop producing eggs, her body produces less estrogen and progesterone, and menstruation becomes less frequent, eventually stops altogether. Symptoms include heart pounding, hot flashes, night sweats, and insomnia.

Traditional Chinese medicine recognizes these changes as a natural process. Estrogen is similar to what acupuncturists call Jing Qi. When Jing Qi is abundant, our ability to adapt to disease, illness, and stress is at its highest point. As we age, however, our Jing Qi is drained and the organ systems in our body become unbalanced. This leads to various symptoms such as graying hair, weakness of knees, poor memory, and fatigue.

Acupuncture offers a safe and effective way to address menopause. An acupuncturist will conduct an examination and gather information in order to find a treatment plan that addresses each patient's individual concerns.
