Definition:

Tenderness and pain on the joint on each side of your head in front of the ears, where the lower jawbone meets the skull.

Symptom:

Symptoms include pain or tenderness of the jaw, aching pain in and around the ear, discomfort or difficulty in chewing, aching facial pain, locking of the jaw, headache, uncomfortable bite, and uneven bite.

Cause:

Caused by misalignment of the disks in the jaw, joint cartilage can be damaged due to arthritis or impact, or muscles that stabilize joints can be overworked from clenching.
